Why do massage help to relieve stress levels in our human body

Stress has become a common companion in our modern lives. From demanding work schedules to personal responsibilities, it often feels like there’s no escape. However, there is a natural and effective way to manage stress: massage therapy.
One of the primary ways massage helps to relieve stress is by reducing the production of cortisol, often referred to as the “stress hormone.” When we are stressed, our bodies release cortisol as part of the fight-or-flight response. While this is helpful in short bursts, chronically high levels of cortisol can lead to a range of health issues, including anxiety, depression, and weight gain.
By lowering cortisol levels, massage therapy helps to calm the nervous system and promote a sense of relaxation. In addition to reducing stress hormones, massage also stimulates the release of endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine—the body’s natural “feel-good” chemicals. These neurotransmitters help to improve mood, reduce pain, and create a sense of overall well-being.
Furthermore, the physical act of massage helps to release tension in the muscles, which is often a physical manifestation of stress. As muscles relax, blood flow improves, and the body can enter a state of rest and recovery. This physical relaxation often translates into mental relaxation, making it easier to manage the challenges of daily life.
